Bohumil Hrabal, rozený Bohumil František Kilian (28. března 1914 Židenice – 3. února 1997 Praha) byl český prozaik, jeden z nejvýznamnějších a nejosobitějších českých spisovatelů druhé poloviny 20. století. Ačkoliv začal autorsky publikovat až po 40. roce věku, stal se po Jaroslavu Haškovi, jehož *Osudy dobrého vojáka Švejka* byly přeloženy do 58 jazyků, a Karlu Čapkovi, jehož některá díla byla přeložena do desítek jazyků, třetím nejpřekládanějším českým autorem 20. století. --- Bohumil Hrabal, born Bohumil František Kilian (28 March 1914 Židenice – 3 February 1997 Prague) was a Czech novelist, one of the most important and unique Czech writers of the second half of the 20th century. Although he began publishing as an author only after the age of 40, he became the third most translated Czech author of the 20th century after Jaroslav Hašek, whose *The Good Soldier Švejk* was translated into 58 languages, and Karel Čapek, whose works were translated into dozens of languages.
